One more impression from my journey around the world: Homeless in Santa Monica

Santa Monica, California, glamor and poverty are coexisting in an amazing way.

Some are eating others have to wait

During my journey around the world I started to get faschinated by birds. They are so intimately interacting with us. Cute little creatures that coexist with us, whether it is a common sparrow or pigeon or a more fancy type of bird, they all got irresistible charm, if you look at them from close.

Sometimes the difference between boys and girls can be huge!

When we came into our condo today in Waikoloa Village on Big Island, Hawaii, first thing was that we were received by a bunch of wild turkeys. It’s mating time here and the guys seem to go wild. They have been right in front of our terrace door overwhelmed by a flood of hormones, so not paying attention to us at all. The birds were even littering in front of our main entrance door. Bonne chance ;-)

These two photos I took on our miniscule stay in Sydney. I think they stand for our Western life style and not further comment. Sydney was so draining and even more the trip from Sydney to Honolulu. My brain stopped working. I still suffer from the aftermath.

Scientists at work

Yesterday while the athletes racing against humidity and heat, I went along the course with my photo camera. It is amazing how relaxing it can be to shoot photos instaed of filming, much easier. Fritz you are so right! On my way I met students of ECU. They are part of a work group performing a study on athletes in muggy heat. They were in charge to make a lot of measurements yesterday. As I understood 24 voluteers are enrolled in the study. These athletes had to swallow a capsule that allows the scientists to make some conclusions about the absorption activity of the gut during a race in the heat and in high humidity.

A colorful life full of motives it seems

Camping in front of our Goldkistl

Camping in front of our Goldkistl

It is not extraordinary that ones senses are more susceptible away from home, away from the daily routines, and this is exactly what I experienced here already during my first 48 hours in Singapore. The life here is so colorful, so lively and peaceful – it seems –  that you are caught by this irresistible urge to make one picture after the other, flooding you with pictures that have already been taken a hundred thousand times before me because of the same reasons… it is difficult not to do so, I try my very best. It is the superficial glimpse of the visitor.

Since one day in Asia

We arrived in Singapore yesterday. Time runs so fast, that you forget about time. Jetlag what is that ;-) … the booster
keeps us on track. Today I shot some photos that are typical Asia for me. I love it here, people are very relaxed and lively. Here are some
impressions from today.
