Short note on why Biestmilch helps to speed up recovery

To get an insight into the process of recovery it is necessary to go a little bit into the physiology of muscle adaptation by training. There have been days when we were not having microscopes giving us a view on the micro-texture of this marvelous tissue. Back then people thought the muscle is not able adapt or recover. We had a similar idea about the muscle as we had not very long ago about neurones, either proved to be wrong! Why we could not observe muscle changes was because of the fact that the muscle differentiates and proliferates relatively slowly compared for example to the various connective tissues or mucosal linings.

Today we are well aware of the muscle structures, we know that a muscle is build out of bundles of fibers with different sizes whereas on the tiniest level of the filaments the processes of contraction are initiated. Contraction is a perfectly orchestrated course of events where biochemical actions are transferred into biomechanical movements. As a result myosin and actin filaments shrink against each other.

What happens within the muscle tissue during training? (more…)

The vicious circle of Crohn’s disease and why biestmilch can help

Since one century scientists try to find out about the cause of inflammatory bowel diseases. New techniques make it possible to examine whether there exist specific genetic profiles that cause chronic diseases. For Crohn’s disease we know today that genes only make a minor contribution to its development.
The trend in nature science, and that really makes me happy to observe, is to recognize that most of the chronic diseases cannot be explained by one cause only. The same applies to Crohn’s disease (CD). Genetic studies proved this clearly.

I want to raise the topic of CD because biestmilch proved to be a very good therapeutic agent in Crohn’s disease. Of course, I ask myself why this is the case, where is the scientific evidence that gives us a reasonable explanation? Now, a group of scientists from the University of the City London, medicine department presents an interesting concept about the multi-causal roots of CD.

In all CD patients examined scientists found abnormalities that indicate minor defects in a bunch of genes and not a single one. Probably they will discover many more of this kind. We must know that various genes contribute to the creation for example of signal transduction molecules etc. Defects on the level of molecules are called phenotypic, on the level of genes science speaks about ontogenetic defects.

Okay then, various phenotypic failures in CD have been detected recently: a mucosal barrier dysfunction, innate immunodefiency states, and the propagation of a chronic inflammatory state. This vicious circle is perpetuating. (more…)

Individualizing medicine

If you are working with a natural substance like biestmilch you are used to deal with the patient as an individual and not as a part of a statistical collective. Naturopathy usually tailors therapeutic regimen to the body, not so does medicine, neither therapy nor diagnostics. In medicine we turn into statistical probabilities in that moment we enter a clinic and get in touch with a physician. Of course, their are a lot of individualizing efforts in medical practices. But mostly they remain in the realm of talking and lack a frame of reference. They either cling to statistics still or drift to esotericism.
The video underneath is only the beginning of trying to bring more individuality into medicine. Whether it is a suitable model, only future can prove. It seems that this concept of individuality tries to ease the tension between the body as a statistical significant database and the deviant behavior of an individual.

It is the dream of the creators of this model that doctors could soon be testing medications or surgery on your virtual twin before you get to undergo the real treatment.

Have you been aware of the world-wide food crisis?

Behind me now lie 5 weeks of intense traveling. Seeing various places on this world makes you change your views or at least the angle of how you look at certain things. When sitting at home safely plunged in daily routines the world looks definitely different. Traveling is rewarding in many aspects but it has its energy draining effects too. Myself drifting in certain haze of exhaustion since then (yesterday 1:00 am I came back from Mallorca, giving a speech on biestmilch in a triathlon training camp) browsed since very long time again through rocketboom’s vlogs and bumped into this food issue.
In our Western hemisphere we talk so much about healthy food and biological energy (healthy energy) without seeing the far-reaching consequences for other parts in the world. For us from Biestmilch Seven food is of fundamental concern as biestmilch is very precious food that is so underestimated in our parts of the world and so highly valued in countries  that have got so very little to feed their people. This is bizarre. Obviously biestmilch and its preventive potential is of extraordinary value if you have not got enough food. But sorry, I zone out, perhaps you find some time to listen to this interesting presentation.

How to take the Biest Booster, report by Wolfi Schmatz

Wolfi Schmatz who is coaching triathletes sent me this mail from the training camp on Lanzarote. He is on Biestmilch since one year, and he knows very well who to use the booster.

Hi Susann, tja was soll ich erzählen! Wenn die Leute passen, das Wetter stimmt und auch noch das Hotel klasse ist! Was will man mehr?

Here a summary in English:
Wolfi recommends the booster if you have a tough day ahead of you: Training in the morning, then a consuming day on the job, and in the evening a training session again. In situation like this the booster is for Wolfi an ideal thing to come over the much much easier.
Moreover he takes the  Biest Booster on Sundays, because on Sunday he is training 2 to 4 hours in the morning, then he takes a break and goes swimming for 75 minutes in the evening. With the booster he feels top fit in the swim especially during winter time.
Moreover he is convinced that the biestmilch chewies helped him to control his stomach problems… with Biestmilch, he says he feels motivated to train and to do his job. And that is what he tells his athletes too!

His final remark was: And, if after 6 hours on the bike your wife ask her right, then take a booster and your wife is happy :-)   Everybody laughed!

Thank you for your support Wolfi!

Boost your brain: studies show that it is never too late !

Since we have the BIEST BOOSTER in our product portfolio I’m much more concerned about stuff that is enhancing brain activity and cognition. Nowadays brain doping has become silently accepted, students, scientists, computer specialists, artists, people under pressure in their jobs tend to use drugs to stabilize or enhance their performance. There are other possibilities, healthy ones, to boost your brain instead of dope. The article in the Scientific American that I found today and is very much in line with biestmilch, its biology and philosophy accounts for that.

  • Scientists are finding that the adult human brain is far more malleable than they once thought. Your behavior and environment can cause substantial rewiring of your brain or a reorganization of its functions.
  • Studies have shown that exercise can improve the brain’s executive skills, which include planning, organizing and multitasking. What you eat can also influence how effectively your brain operates.
  • Activities such as listening to music, playing video games and meditating may boost cognitive performance as well.

If you want the proof read the original article that quotes several studies performed in various species from humans to rats.
If you once have browsed through the Biestmilch Universe you may have noticed that biestmilch could be an integral part of your diet, your way of life, your physical activity. These are the things that make and keep you healthy. It is the quality of your diet and your physical and mental activity that may help you to stay young and fit. We know today that the best tumor prevention strategy is they way you live your life, the more trendy term is lifestyle.
By the way, it seems obvious that your body keeps going accordingly, only if your brain remains fit and flexible. It is the brain that is the coordination center for signaling to your body to move arbitrarily.
Everybody knows what it means on the job if the brain works and feels lousy ;-)

Biest Athlete Yvonne van Vlerken: Second place in Geelong

Congratulations Yvonne! Biestmilch is supporting Yvonne since the beginning of this year. We are very optimistic, the race season has just begun, and there is more about to come.
Western Beach, Geelong, Australia

Western Beach, Geelong, Australia

The Snap Ironman 70.3 Geelong, 2009 has been by Craig Alexander and Samantha Warriner stepping up from short course racing to take her first Ironman 70.3 title. Athletes were lucky on race day. The temperature had returned to safe and much cooler levels, allowing the race to go ahead as normal. While on the days before the event the ferocious heat wave had hit Geelong as well. As athletes were checking bikes in on Saturday the thermometer display showed 47°C.

For Samantha Warriner, it was her first Ironman 70.3 – following her 2008 World Cup series successes – and a dream debut. Yvonne swam her best swim time ever, nevertheless she was 4 minutes behind. »No problem«, she says and smiles in her soft way. »I shall continue to work hard on this«. Australian Pip Taylor led the women early into the bike, following a strong swim, but soon relinquished the lead to Yvonne. Warriner soon reached second place, at the half-way point of the ride. Yvonne could not get away on the bike. The big moment of the race came, when Warriner made a lightning transition, heading onto the run with a 90m lead. Over the next 21.1km, Yvonne wasn’t able to run the New Zealander down, making a dream debut complete.
