The science of Cows and Grass

Grass is stapel food for cows. Quantity and quality of the grass influence the amount of milk that is produced by a cow’s udder in an amazing correlation that I was never aware before I started working with biestmilch and the New Zealand style of cattle farming. Cows need grass. This is one of the reasons grass became a very important symbol in grafic design. Hey, Elisabeth (she is my great Manitu) that is why there cannot be enough grass in our biestmilch universe.

Biest eating grass

Today I got some more scientific information of this interesting topic from the agricultural rural development site in the UK that shows impressively how sensitive cows react to grass.

High quality grazed grass has been shown through research trials to have the potential to support up to 27 litres of milk production. This is only possible under ideal grazing conditions during May as shown in figure A. Actual production from grass will depend on: the stage of lactation of the cows, the quality of the grass, and the weather conditions while grazing.

From Beloved New Yorker or from cow to air

The New Yorker, now I make it officially, was the inspiration for our website. I never quoted it until today, not on purpose, I don’t know why I didn’t. Today, at the beginning of the Chinese Year of the Ox or cow respectively, when I started googling, I had to realize that I couldn’t absorbe this culture so very different to ours in such a short period of time. I returned back to our culture and I ended up at a book review published by The New Yorker about the invention of the air.
I think it fits the day. Air, we take it for granted, we don’t think about it any more, it became a fact. But there was this guy called Joseph Priestley in the 18th century who actually discovered oxygen. Steven Johnson wrote a book on this guy who was thinking out of the box and gave us the air. Johnson offers a clear-sighted and intelligent exploration of the conditions that are propitious to scientific innovation, such as the availability of coffee and the unfettered circulation of information through social networks.

Okay then, anyhow, we welcome the Chinese year of the cow/ox, because the cow is so essential to our business, to our wonderful biestmilch.

The Big Muh on Big Island

Here you have the proof that Hawaii is not just palm trees and beaches, but has also got huge areas of farmland. It is a place were you can experience the origin of life and species at the vulcano and find the cattle that is the very origin of our biestmilch. The term origin has a lot to do with biestmilch (colostrum). It is the essence that helps all mammals to live and survive.
